Parcheesi. Board games then and now

"Eile mit Weile" or parcheesi is a board game with which everyone in Switzerland is familiar. It is the Swiss version of "Mensch ärgere dich nicht" a game that came on the German market 100 years ago and which after certain initial difficulties became an overwhelming hit.
Whether it's "Rheinreise" and "Dichter Quartett" around 1900, or "Fischlispiel" and "Memory" around 1950, or "The Settlers of Catan" or "Uno" today: luck and tactics are central when it's a case of winning or losing.
The exhibition shows old and new games for children and adults, talks about their history and looks at their visual design. The variety of dice and play pieces also come in for some attention.
Naturally, playing games is also part of the exhibition concept. The comprehensive exhibition program also includes Museum night on January 21, 2011.
